Born and raised in a strict military home. He was a troublemaker entering his teen years. Living in Forks during high school is where he met his best buddies Charlie and Billy. Months later he finds out about the defects. No idea who the mother is he sends each off to different families, one to Renee and Charlie and the other to his friends the librarians in Wisconsin. When Samantha turns 13 her mother dies. Grief his them hard and he becomes obsessed with work. The children grow up and he gets cancer, they put a worm in him called the Tok'ra, he is sent to another planet until his daughter finds him and tells him all about Katharine and her large family. Soon after he meets and discovers his daughter and the love of his life.

They marry and have two more children.
